
Liebherr Doubles Maintenance Intervals for Scrap and Material Handlers.
Liebherr has announced a significant extension to the maintenance intervals of its Generation 6 material handling machines, a move set to deliver substantial cost and efficiency benefits to operators in the scrap and material handling sectors.
Under the updated maintenance regime, the first scheduled service remains unchanged at 500 operating hours. However, subsequent maintenance interventions have now been extended to 1,000 operating hours, effectively doubling the interval compared to previous requirements. This enhancement allows operators of Liebherr’s latest machines to run for longer periods between services without compromising performance or reliability.
The extended maintenance intervals apply across a wide range of Liebherr material handling equipment. This includes electric-powered models from the LH 40 to the LH 150, as well as diesel-powered machines from the LH 30 to the LH 150. By covering both electric and diesel variants, Liebherr ensures that a broad spectrum of customers can benefit from the improved service schedule.
According to Liebherr, the new 1,000-hour maintenance interval can reduce overall maintenance costs by up to 30%. These savings are driven primarily by reduced frequency of servicing, as key components such as filters and oils now require less frequent replacement. Liebherr attributes this improvement to targeted optimisations in machine design, combined with the use of Liebherr original spare parts and approved lubricants and operating fluids.
It is important to note that the newly defined maintenance intervals are conditional. Liebherr specifies that the extended service schedule applies only when operators use Liebherr original spare parts in conjunction with Liebherr-branded lubricants and operating fluids. This ensures that machine reliability, performance, and longevity are maintained in line with the manufacturer’s standards.
With this development, Liebherr reinforces its focus on lowering total cost of ownership while maintaining high levels of machine availability and operational efficiency for material handling customers worldwide.
